SFM Recap & Preview Tuesday

The weekend is over, and we have the first champion of the 2025/26 season in Europe’s Top 5 league: with 4 games still outstanding, the FC Bayern München won the Bundesliga for the 35th time!

In other leagues, however, it is not as boring as in the Bundesliga: this weekend’s results have actually tightened the race for the title in both the Premier League and the Ligue 1, as the respective leaders have both lost their high stakes games!

As La Liga has a regularly scheduled matchday this week, and others have some rescheduled matches taking place, we will first take stock of the Soccer Factor Model’s (SFM) predictions that we highlighted last Friday and take a look at some of the upcoming matches.

🥅 Preview – Matches

Paris Saint-Germainvs.FC Nantes

In an upset win, OL took all three points at Parc des Princes, allowing second-placed RC Lens to shrink the gap to leading PSG to just 1 (!) point – though, PSG has still one re-scheduled match left outstanding against second-to-last FC Nantes ... at home!

🤓 As anyone would expect, the odds couldn’t be stacked more clearly in favor of the reigning French and European Champion PSG.

Real Sociedad San Sebastiánvs.FC Getafe

It was only 13 seconds into the game when Ander Barrenetxea gave Real Sociedad the lead over Atletico Madrid in the final of the Copa del Rey at the weekend – none of Atletico’s players had even touched the ball and Real Sociedad went on to later lift the King’s Cup. Now, it’s back to mundane business as usual, though not less important: both Real Sociedad and Getafe are in fierce competition for next season’s international seats.

🤓 Overall, the SFM sees a slight edge for the Basques, as it all boils down to the home pitch factor and players’ individual skill.
