SFM Recap & Preview Friday

It’s Friday again, and it is the last Friday of the regular season! The winners of the European Top 5 leagues have already been decided with the last one to join being the FC Arsenal London – ending a 22-year long drought and following in the footsteps of Arsene Wenger and his Invincibles!

But this is not to say that this weekend is not packed with nerve-wrecking excitement! Quite the contrary!

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 One London-based club has won the title, another London club will have to join the FC Burnley and the Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Championship next year: West Ham United or the Tottenham Hotspur?

🇮🇹 In Italy, there are decisions to be made on both ends: 4 teams fighting for 2 Champions League seats, and the fierce fight between US Cremonese and US Lecce for that one spot that keeps you in the Serie A.

🇪🇸 And lastly, the third episode of the Spanish Russian Roulette: 2 out of 7 teams that are (technically) still within the range of having to start in Segunda División next season. However, the reality is much more nuanced as individual head-to-head results will play a role in case of two teams being tied in the end.

So, let’s get right into it and have a look at the Soccer Factor Model (SFM) predictions for players’ scoring probabilities for the upcoming matches!

🥅 Preview – Matches

Tottenham Hotspurvs.Everton FC

There is not much to say other than: a draw would be enough to save Tottenham from relegation to the Championship. Coach Roberto De Zerbi, who took over on March 31st, has given the Spurs new hope to prevent a horrible season to become a total calamity:

8 points out of the last 5 games is not too bad of a run.

🤓 Hope for the Spurs fans! The SFM has the odds clearly tilted in favor of Tottenham!

West Ham Unitedvs.Leeds United

The Hammers have lost all of their last three matches. This is not particularly a confidence booster going into this decisive match.

🤓 The SFM doesn’t lend much hope to the Hammers: the probabilities point towards a tie.

FC Torinovs.Juventus Turin

Il Derby della Mole on the last day of the season! And what a crucial one it is for Juventus! The Old Lady is in crisis after last week’s loss to the Fiorentina and currently not being given a ticket to next year’s Champions League!

🤓 But there is hope for the Bianconeri: the SFM has the odds clearly tilted in Juventus’ favor!

US Cremonesevs.Como 1907

It is such a high stakes game for both: Jamie Vardy’s Cremonese is struggling to stay in the Serie A – and in the last weeks it has only been because of the Englishmen that Cremonese may still hope for that. But a draw by US Cremonese and loss by US Lecce will eventually even lead to an extraordinary play-out match between the two!

Como on the other hand may still dream of playing in the Champions League next season, but a win is tantamount. So, no mercy to be expected by Cesc Fabregas’ team!

🤓 Despite the home pitch factor, the SFM puts a slight edge on Como!
