SFM & SFMMO: Preview Friday

It’s Friday again, and that means, another weekend full of European club football ahead – and what a weekend it is gonna be!

Too many interesting matches to cover in a single preview: from Arsenal-Chelsea, via Inter-Napoli, Juve-Milan, PSG-Monaco, Betis-Real, to Schalke-Bayern.

Let’s dive directly into the SFMMO’s and SFM’s projections!

🥅 Preview – Matches

PSGvs.Monaco

What a way to start the weekend: already on Friday evening, the Ligue 1 awaits with a real treat! The only team to have won both its opening games – Monaco – is hosted by the team which has so far failed to book a win this season – PSG.

🤓 SFMMO: Who wins?

PSG’s mediocre performance so far doesn’t seem to have bothered the SFMMO at all neither in its title odds projections nor in its call for this match: PSG (63%) – Monaco (17%)

🏃 SFM: Who are the players, most likely to score?

PSG: Ferran Torres (36%), Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (21%); Monaco: Florian Balogun (19%).

Intervs.Napoli

Inter has left no doubts so far that they will be the prime contenders for the title this season again. Napoli entered the season with high ambitions, but suffered its first major blow after losing at home to Como last week. Early on in the season, this is already a decisive match for Massimiliano Allegri: win and win over the hearts of the Partenopei, lose and rumors might start to circulate about job security after three games only.

🤓 SFMMO: Who wins?

Not much hope for Allegri: Inter (51%) – Napoli (24%)

🏃 SFM: Who are the players, most likely to score?

Inter: Hakan Calhanoglu (34%) – someone is betting on momentum here, Francesco Esposito (28%), Lautaro Martinez (26%); Napoli: Rasmus Hoejlund (24%).

Arsenalvs.Chelsea

Sunday afternoon: showtime in London. Both teams have won each of their first two games of the season, demonstrating their ambitions. Also the SFMMO has both teams placed second and third in the race for the title, yet with a 25 percentage point gap separating the Gunners from the Blues!

By no means it will be a first indication of what to expect from both teams this season, and especially for Xabi Alonso it will be the first real test.

🤓 SFMMO: Who wins?

The SFMMO has a clear tilt: 53% chance that the Gunners take the 3 points!

🏃 SFM: Who are the players, most likely to score?

Arsenal: Bukayo Saka (47%), Kai Havertz (43%; Chelsea: Joao Pedro (28%), Cole Palmer (28%).

Schalkevs.Bayern

A classic. Years ago, it would have been two contenders for the title. This time, let’s summarize it with the words of Toni Kroos himself in his podcast “Einfach mal Luppen” earlier this week: “Gonna be 0:8.”

🤓 SFMMO: Who wins?

The SFMMO didn’t give that bold of a call, but also has a clear opinion: Bayern (75%).

🏃 SFM: Who are the players, most likely to score?

Schalke: Edin Dzeko (15%); Bayern: Luis Diaz (36%), Michael Olise (33%), Harry Kane (32%).
